Bishops Barons Invitational

The Bishops Barons Girls Basketball team hosted the First Annual Bishops College Barons Invitational this past weekend. The Tournament was a great success exhibiting exceptional basketball games from across the province. Participating team included: Bishops, Mobile, PWC, and Corner Brook in Division 1 and St. Kevin's, Gonzaga, Laval and Clarenville in Division 2. The tournament was also a fundraising success and well exceeded expectations.

First, the Bishops College Coaching Staff would like to thank all players and parents of the Bishops Team for sharing in the effort and volunteer their time and resources to the event. We would also like to thank other score keepers, coaches, teams, and fans whom helped to make this event a great success.

Now on to the stats...

Our girls played great games this weekend and have so much to be proud of - playing exceptional games of basketball and showing outstanding sportsmanship. Your demonstration of skill, determination, endurance, positive thinking, and the ability to step up is the most important success of this weekend. The Barons won based on exceptional teamwork and outstanding effort. The Barons were the only team to have 5 different players nominated for an all-star award - this says a great deal about the Barons team. The finished with a 2-1 record in their Division and defeated the undefeated St. Kevin's team in double overtime in the crossovers. The Bishops Barons fought a tough back to back championship game against the strengthened Gonzaga Vikings and we within 6 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The Bishops Barons fell to the Gonzaga to win a well-deserved second place finish!
